Bitcoin Climbs 1.4% to $78,337 as Markets Digest Election Results
Bitcoin rose 1.4% to $78,337 and Ether gained 1.5% today, but a 24/100 bottom reading says this bounce isn't confirmed yet.

Bitcoin is up 1.4% over the past 24 hours to $78,337, with Ether adding 1.5% and Solana essentially flat at -0.2%. After a volatile stretch tied to U.S. election results, today's tape is calm and modestly green.
Today's move
Bitcoin added 1.4% to reach $78,337 over the past 24 hours. Ether climbed 1.5%, while Solana was roughly flat, down 0.2%. Leading the gainers list, JCT jumped 21.2%, Lisk (LSK) rose 10.2%, THORChain's RUNE added 7.3%, Zcash (ZEC) gained 6.9%, IDOL rose 5.7% and Injective (INJ) climbed 5.2%. On the losing side, AKE dropped 23.9%, the TRUMP token fell 11.4%, HOT lost 10.9%, ICNT slid 9.6%, WLFI eased 3.3% and ZRO slipped 2.9%.
What's driving it

The move comes after a rocky 24 to 48 hours around the U.S. midterms. Coindesk reports bitcoin and stocks reversed an overnight plunge following what's being called a 'Blue Wave' landslide, and Decrypt notes bitcoin shrugged off the midterms as analysts argued the Democratic sweep was largely priced in before results landed. RUNE's 7.3% gain lines up with a Coindesk report that THORChain volume picked up as North Korean hackers resumed laundering stolen Binance funds through the protocol, a reminder that not every green candle is a clean one. On the corporate side, Circle beat earnings and revenue estimates on rising USDC transaction volume, even after quietly cutting 5% of its staff. Regulatory headlines are also in the mix: France is backing new reporting requirements for self-custodied crypto holdings above 100,000 euros, and the CFTC cleared stock perpetual futures only to get sued the same day.
Signs of a turn
Today's bounce is real, but it isn't a confirmed bottom. Our bottom/accumulation indicator reads 24 out of 100, still flashing no bottom signal. A high reading would be the constructive clue we'd want to see before calling this a turn, and 24 isn't it. Zoom out and the multi-week regime remains cautious, with a 14-day return of -7.0%. One green day does not flip a multi-week downtrend, but it is today's news, and a second or third day like this would start to matter more.
What I'm watching next

- Whether bitcoin can hold above $78,000 and string together a second green day, or whether this fades back into the broader caution regime.
- The bottom/accumulation indicator for any move off its current 24/100 reading toward more constructive territory.
- Follow-through on RUNE and THORChain volume now that the laundering story is public, plus any regulatory reaction.
- Institutional flows like Schroders' new emerging-market bond fund on Solana, and whether they show up in SOL's price action.
- Fallout from the CFTC stock perps lawsuit and France's self-custody reporting proposal, both of which could shape sentiment into next week.
