Bitcoin Falls 1.4% to $80K as Bottom Signal Stays Dark
BTC is down 1.4% to $80,169.9, dragging ETH and SOL lower, while the bottom indicator stays at just 14/100.

Bitcoin is down 1.4% over the last 24 hours to $80,169.9, pulling Ether down 1.8% and Solana down 3.4%. This is a same-day sell-off across the majors, not a bounce, and the signals back that up.
Today's move
The three largest tokens are all red together: BTC -1.4% to $80,169.9, ETH -1.8%, SOL -3.4%. Underneath that, the market is splitting hard between winners and losers rather than moving as one.
- Gainers: BIRB +53.9%, IRYS +34.6%, JCT +24.9%, IN +15.0%, all double-digit moves.
- Losers: Q -30.9%, MAGMA -20.3%, ARK -13.9%, AKE -13.2%, WLD -12.4%, PEPE -11.4%, also double-digit drops.
That spread, big double-digit gains next to big double-digit losses while BTC itself slips, is a sign of a choppy, rotation-heavy tape rather than a single clean trend.
What's driving it

Policy noise is adding to the pressure. Wells Fargo, Cisco and Marvell are among the firms objecting to OKX-ICE's plan to list tokenized versions of their stock, a reminder that regulatory friction around tokenized equities is far from resolved. In Washington, the Clarity Act's failure to pass is reportedly giving Asia and the Middle East a competitive edge, according to Apex Group's CEO, and a Senate Democrat is now probing Tether's payments to a former White House crypto adviser's firm. None of that is a direct trigger for today's percentage moves, but it keeps the macro and regulatory backdrop uneasy.
There is a more constructive thread too. Hong Kong's biggest bank has reportedly put a stablecoin into 3 million wallets, and Franklin Templeton added $150 million in fund shares to the XRP Ledger in a single wallet. Xapo's CEO also pointed out that wealthy bitcoin holders are increasingly borrowing against their holdings and earning yield rather than selling, which points to a steadier, longer-horizon base of demand even on a red day like today.
Risks
The bottom/accumulation indicator reads just 14 out of 100 today, a red signal that explicitly means no bottom is confirmed. That matches the price action: this looks like continued selling, not a reversal. The broader multi-week regime is still neutral, with a 14-day return of -2.9%, so today's drop extends an already-soft backdrop rather than breaking new ground. The gap between double-digit altcoin gainers and double-digit losers is also a risk in itself: that kind of dispersion tends to mean more volatility in both directions before the market settles.
What I'm watching next

Whether bitcoin holds the $80,169.9 area or keeps sliding, and whether the bottom/accumulation reading starts climbing off 14. On the policy side: how OKX-ICE responds to Wells Fargo, Cisco and Marvell's objections, and whether the Clarity Act gets another shot in Washington. And on the losers list, Q, MAGMA, ARK, AKE, WLD and PEPE need to stop bleeding before any real turn argument holds up.
