Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana Bounce Today, but the Bottom Signal Isn't Confirmed Yet
BTC, ETH and SOL are all green today with some altcoins up double and triple digits, but the market's bottom indicator still reads low.

Crypto is green across the board today, with Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana all higher and a cluster of altcoins putting up double and triple-digit gains. After weeks of chop, this is the first session that looks like real buying pressure.
Today's move
Bitcoin is up 1.1% to $83,050.4 over the last 24 hours. Ethereum is outperforming at 2.6%, and Solana leads the majors at 3.7%. Breadth confirms the move: JCT has more than doubled, up 122.5%, while BR (30.2%), APR (28.3%), ALT (22.5%), PHA (19.2%) and CTR (12.6%) all posted double-digit gains.
Real decliners are scarce. BTW is down 11.0% and Q is off 3.9%, the two genuine losers on the board. PAXG, a gold-backed token, is essentially flat at -0.1%. NEAR, BTC and ARB round out the list, but all three are actually positive, up 0.6%, 1.1% and 1.1% respectively, a sign of how thin the selling is today.
What's driving it

Switzerland's FINMA has approved the country's first Bitcoin ETF for retail investors, a fresh regulated on-ramp that supports risk appetite. Pulling the other way, Europe is getting tougher on policy: France's parliament voted, by a single vote, to advance a 31% capital gains tax on stablecoin trades, and a Kazakhstan court barred Coinbase and five other platforms from unlicensed crypto services in the Astana International Financial Centre.
There's also a parallel fight in tokenized equities: Microsoft, Alphabet and Goldman Sachs, all stocks, are among the companies objecting to the OKX-ICE tokenized stock plan, and separately nine blue-chip companies have said no to having their own stock tokenized. Those are stock-market stories, not altcoin moves, but they show how much of traditional finance is still hesitant to plug into crypto rails.
Signs of a turn
Today has the shape of an attempted bounce: all three majors green, broad altcoin participation, and a loser list that barely has any real losers in it. That's a genuine short-term positive. But the data doesn't support calling a bottom yet. The bottom and accumulation indicator reads 13 out of 100, a 'No Bottom Signal' reading. A high score is what you'd want for a constructive capitulation-to-accumulation setup, and 13 isn't close. The broader regime also hasn't flipped: it's still neutral, with the market down 2.9% over the past 14 days. One strong day is the news, not proof the multi-week trend has turned.
What I'm watching next

- Whether Ethereum and Solana hold today's gains or fade back toward flat like prior bounce attempts.
- Whether the bottom indicator climbs meaningfully above 13 in coming sessions.
- The Drift exploiter has sent $61 million in ETH to Tornado Cash and still holds roughly $194 million, an overhang that could pressure sentiment if more funds move.
- How France's stablecoin tax vote and Kazakhstan's Coinbase ban play out, and whether more UK banks join Lloyds and Barclays in facing scrutiny over crypto transfers.
